Shady McCoy: We found Jill with Nothing Mutt Love Rescue in the Waxhaw/Marvin magazine. I have been looking for a rescue (before our black lab rescue becomes too senior) for quite some time, but I did not know I had cancer so that’s probably why nothing worked out until now! I am now 100% cancer free!
It was a little bit of a “bait and switch” as I wanted a particular dog featured in the magazine, but after speaking with Jill, she moved me towards a different dog who was a better fit. Our Shady McCoy!
Im training her to be a Therapy Dog and when I told Jill that I wanted a cuddle bug that would be a Therapy Dog and a big goofball, she told me the one I had liked originally was not anything like that at all! But Shady would be a great fit. Jill is a phenomenal matchmaker!
I had a wonderful Therapy Dog named Guinness that I took to Levine Children’s Hospital. And now we have our therapy dog, Stella so we were trying to sort of keep the beer theme but nothing was fitting. We are Eagles fans so when I found out that LeSean McCoy #25 is called Shady - I thought it was very fitting and a lot of fun and he has a Whiskey by that name! She has lived up to her name! A month after we got her she broke her leg so was in a cast. Now she’s in diapers because she’s in heat. You can’t make this stuff up! But she’s doing really really well now so don’t you worry!
